All Hertz rental vehicles are equipped with all season radials which are designed to perform in a variety of conditions including wet roads and winter driving. Winter Rated Tires are available for added peace of mind or if you believe your travels may take you into an area/onto a roadway where winter tires are required by law.

What are Winter Rated Tires?
Our winter tires provide improved handling and stopping distances in snow and ice, as well as on wet roads where the temperature is below 7°C.

Can I book Winter Rates Tires in advance of my rental?
Winter rates tires are optional subject to availability at airport counters and in neighbourhood locations across Canada (excluding Quebec) at the time of rental . Ask for them when you pick up your rental vehicle.

What is the cost of Winter Rated Tires?
Winter Rates Tires are an optional purchase and are not included in the cost of the rental time and mileage. At corporately owned locations in Canada (excluding Quebec) a daily charge applies.

Economy through Full Size vehicles:$20.00 CAD Per Day
Premium and above vehicles:$25.00 CAD Per Day

Where do I need Winter Rated Tires?

British Columbia
Winter Tires are not required on roadways in the City of Vancouver or on the Lower Mainland highways, but are required on the Sea-to-Sky, as well as routes north and east of Hope, and on many major highways in the B.C. Interior and northern regions. Be sure to plan your route, and if required purchase optional winter tires for your rental.

Quebec
In the province of Quebec, all vehicle fleet are required to be equipped with Winter Tires by law during the period December 1^th to March 15^th. All rentals in that province incur a daily Tire Management Fee of $3.05 CAD per day to cover the cost of winter tires, storage and service. This fee is charged year round.

What other winterization features can I expect?
During the winter season, all vehicles include an ice scraper/snow brush, free of charge.
