Enfield is less than 25km north of central London, and there are several routes you can use to access the city during your stay. Follow the A10 south to reach the A406, also known as the North Circular Road. This runs around the central part, changing into the South Circular when it crosses the Thames. This not only offers access to London but also nearby towns and boroughs including Ilford, Southgate and Barking. The A406 connects to Newham Way just north of London City Airport, taking you right into the heart of the city.

Known as the London Orbital Motorway, this route runs right around the outskirts of the city and connects you to destinations including Watford, around 30km west of Enfield, and Epping Forest to the east.

North of Enfield, the M25 connects to the M1, the main route that runs between London and Leeds, a major city in the north of England. You can use this route to reach destinations including Luton, Milton Keynes and Northampton. It’s only a short drive from the town centre to Trent Park, an area of meadows and woodlands forming part of London’s Green Belt, a protected area of countryside around the outskirts of the city.

Once a royal hunting ground, Trent Park is now a haven for wildlife and is the perfect place to take a walk, relax with a picnic or even practise your swing at its golf club. Located just off the M25, it’s easy to reach in your rental car with plenty of free parking available.

Also situated just a short drive from Enfield is Forty Hall, a historic home that’s stood at the edge of London since 1632. Enfield is the ideal base for days out in Lee Valley Park, which runs all the way from Hertfordshire to the River Thames. Having spent decades as a neglected industrial landscape, the land has been carefully renovated and restored in recent years. It was home to many London 2012 Olympic venues, including Lee Valley VeloPark, one of the world’s most renowned cycling hubs.

Visit the park to try your hand at everything from BMX racing to track cycling, as well as ice skating and even white-water rafting. If you’re looking for a more relaxing day then there are plenty of walking trails, parks and gardens, along with cafés and rowing boats for hire.
